Fruit Growth Stage Reference -- Cranberries

Cranberries - Stevens Description
Dormant Dormant cranberry bud Leaves are generally purple not green and the terminal buds are not swollen. The gray color here is from clay in the winter flood water and not the cranberry.
Swollen Bud Swollen Cranberry Bud As the terminal bud swells it increases in size to 3 or 4 times what the dormant bud was. Wisconsin growers actual have names for the different stages of bud swell; tight bud, bud swell, and cabbagehead to differentiate the size increase. .
Bud Burst Cranberry budburst At bud burst the bud scales separate revealing the shoot and leaves inside.
Elongated Bud cranberry elongated bud As the shoot begins to grow out of the bud, it gives the bud an elongated appearance.

Hook Jewel Hook or Jewel is the name for the stage were the individual flowers have separated from the shoot and are easily recognizable.
Bloom cranberry bloom Bloom in cranberries is an elongated affair as individual flowers open on the stem starting from the bottom and continuing toward the tip.
Pinhead Fruit Pinheads is the name of the small fruit after bloom has finished. Pinheads are the small fruit that form after bloom as the fruit begins to grow. It is not unusaul to have. Pinheads at the bottom of the shoot and bloom above them.
