Using Community Resources 
1.  The telephone book provides numbers to public and private agencies. It is also a place to record frequently called numbers, check maps, and find public transportation schedules.
2.  The public library provides free newspapers, magazines, books, music, and videos.
3.  Newspapers provide tv guides and want ads, community events and garage sale notices, store advertisements and coupons.
4.  A community education department provides classes and free lectures, recreation, and clubs.
5.  Churches provide newsletters and bulletins.
6.  The welcome wagon is a guide to the community resource ideas and free gifts.
7.  County services include Michigan State University Extension, Community Action Agency Program, Family Independence agency, County Health Department, Salvation Army, Red Cross, United Way, and Employment Service.
8.  Look in the yellow pages under child care, churches, clothing, crisis intervention services, emergency food providers, hotlines, housing assistance, human services, shelter, and social services for more information.
