Professional Development Opportunities
MSU Extension is pleased to offer a variety of professional development opportunities for mentoring professionals. These sessions are designed to assist youth mentoring professionals, AmeriCorps members and volunteer administrators in efforts to meet the Michigan Quality Program Standards for Youth Mentoring. Sessions are designed from the youth mentoring perspective, however; all interested participants are welcome. Available topic areas include: Train the Trainer: Mentor Training; Interviewing Skills and Mentor Screening; Matching, Monitoring and Match Closure; Train the Trainer 2: New Training Activities; Crossing the Gap: Communicating Across Generations; and Real Colors. All sessions will begin at 9:30am and finish by 4pm. Lunch and snacks will be provided. Cost is $40. AmeriCorps and VISTA members qualify for a reduced rate of $30. Registration closes two weeks prior to each workshop.
Mentor Training Resources
These resources, presented at Train the Trainer: Mentor Training workshops are meant to enhance mentor training discussions. The Train the Trainer session illustrates ways to utilize these materials to meet your program's mentor training needs. Future training sessions will be announced via the Mentor Michigan listserv.
