8 WEEK ONLINE COURSE
What you will learn and do:
This 8 week online certificate course is designed for those interested in creating or improving a service learning program with an emphasis on teen peer mentoring in a community based setting. During this introductory course, participants will gain a better understanding of the knowledge and theory surrounding community based service learning and peer mentoring; network with others involved in service learning and peer mentoring; and apply course material locally.
This course is designed for:
Youth development professionals interested in creating, expanding, or improving their current service learning and teen peer mentoring programming efforts; AmeriCorps or other National Service program members; Staff and Volunteers of youth serving organizations.
Course format and components:
This content of this 8 week course will be delivered online through the Michigan State University's ANGEL online course system. In addition to weekly readings, lessons, and online discussion forums, students will be expected to be present on 2 conference calls, and complete a course project. This is a non-credit course, and participants will be awarded a certificate of completion upon fulfillment of the course requirements.

Costs and registration:

After registration is complete, an email confirmation will be sent, and a MSU NetID and password will be provided to you (if you do not already have one). This will then allow you access to MSU ANGEL and all online classroom features for the duration of the course.
Technical assistance:
Twenty-four hour technical assistance will be available to class participants throughout the session through the MSU ANGEL Help Desk.
