Young people
ages 9 to 19 are invited to share what they're learning at the Michigan
4-H Communications Day on February 14, 2009 at Michigan State University.
By participating in a variety of contests young people will have
the opportunity to:
- Share ideas
and demonstrate skills and knowledge about topics and issues
that interest them.
- Practice
and strengthen their communication skills through demonstrations,
public speaking, photography, art, exhibits, graphic design, web design, cookery
and more.
- Gain self-confidence,
persuasiveness and the ability to convey ideas, concepts and
information.
- Be recognized
for excellence in communication skills.
There are many communication areas to choose from!
A wide variety of communications areas are
available to meet the needs and interests of young people. Young people will be recognized for
their skills and abilities in the following:

Educational exhibits
- Public speaking
- Demonstrations
- Art (including patch design for the State 4-H Horse Show, State 4-H Horse Trail Ride, 4-H Rabbit and Cavy Expo and 4-H Rabbit and Cavy Show)
- Photography
- Graphic Design
- Cookery
- Web Design
- Citizenship Education
Detailed information on the specific communications contest rules and elegibility requirements as well as coordinator contact information will be provided in the Communications Day Registration Book which will be available for download in Adobe Acrobat format from the Michigan State University Department of Animal Science youth events website.
