Job Fairs

Job fairs provide an opportunity to briefly (30 seconds) make an impression on company recruiters. In 30 seconds, you tell them about your skills and give them a copy of your resume. They contact you later if they want to interview you.

Networking

Many people find jobs by networking. When you’re looking for a job, it’s no time to be shy! Your network includes all the people you know who can be helpful to you in your career or job search. Tell everyone you know you’re looking for employment. That also means family, teachers, friends and neighbors. Many people hire someone because they trust a friend’s or colleague’s recommendation. When you meet a person you think may be someone you want to connect with later, drop his or her contact information in a folder you call “Future Contacts.”

Job Applications

Job application forms are used to help managers spot your strengths and weaknesses. Below are links to a handout with tips on how to successfully complete a job application form and also to a sample job application form you can practice filling out.
