After High School

Exploring Careers
After High School
Entrepreneurship The job Resources

Finishing high school is a priority. Learn as much as you can in high school. You’ll need to graduate from high school to gain admission to most colleges, technical schools, training programs, apprenticeship programs or the military.

What are some of the options for more education after high school?

  • Apprenticeships
  • Four-year colleges and universities
  • Graduate and professional schools
  • Military
  • On-the-job-training and work experience
  • Two-year community and junior colleges
  • Vocational, trade, technical schools and other proprietary schools

Michigan State University

Throughout your 4-H career, you may have already visited our exciting campus during Exploration Days and other events. Consider becoming a member of the MSU Spartan family by attending Michigan State University as your college choice. MSU is known internationally as a major U.S. public university with a global reach. For more than 150 years through innovative teaching, research and outreach, MSU has been advancing knowledge and transforming lives. To learn more about Michigan State University and what it’s like to be a Spartan, visit the Admissions Web site at http://admissions.msu.edu. See photos from around campus, watch videos of students, sign up to be on a mailing list, apply online and more. Learn more about MSU’s nationally recognized faculty and find out why it’s great to be a Spartan!

Other Educational Opportunities

The state of Michigan has created a Michigan career portal within its extensive Web site. (http://www.michigan.gov/) Learn more about various types of education and training and emerging occupations. There is a link to a comprehensive list of two- and four-year colleges and universities. This list includes direct links to each school’s admissions, academics, financial aid, and online application system. Other links take you to information about technical, trade, vocational and other proprietary schools across the state.

Financial Aid

If you think you can’t afford to pay for education after high school, first take a look at the numerous options. Scholarships, financial aid and college loans can be considered. There are a variety of resources out there to help you look at funding for post-high school education.
