Charlevoix County’s fifth annual 4-H community service learning project, “Take a Day On,” was once again very successful! We had a great turnout of youth and adults participating in a very positive and worthwhile experience. In the morning, participants were involved in ice breakers, leadership development and an educational agenda that included a brief history about Walloon Lake Village presented by Bunny Marquardt, and an environmental presentation from Kevin Cronk representing Tipp of the Mitt Watershed Council. In the afternoon, students cleaned the beach area and the Bear River Creek bed at the Melrose Township Park, as well as planted flowers in the barrels that line the park’s boundaries as their community service learning project. A great time was had and many lessons learned as a result of the day’s activities. Funding was provided by the Charlevoix Community Foundation.
