Follow the online trail to new environmental and outdoor education activites

Enviro Stew Web Site
Michigan’s Least Wanted Species Matching, Mapping Michigan and The Bug Collector are part of the new 4-H Enviro-Stew Fun and Games Web site. Visit the Environmental and Outdoor Education site at http://Web1.msue.msu.edu/cyf/youth/enved.htm to find these and other fun learning activities.

By Judy Ratkos

If you haven’t already, take some time to check out what’s happening in the 4-H Environmental & Outdoor Education area! The main page of the Web site http://Web1.msue.msu.edu/cyf/youth/enved.html provides a link directly to each 4-H EOE content area (Challenge, Entomology, Great Lakes & Natural Resources Camp, Junior Citizen Planner, Michigan 4-H Youth Conservation Council, Project FISH, REAACT, Shooting Sports and Trackers, and to the new 4-H Enviro-Stew Fun and Games). In additional, the site includes interactive learning games and some “do, reflect, apply” activities/lesson plans. There’s also a “Grants, Contests, Training & Other Opportunities” section. You’ll discover a number of things you can use with your 4-H members—from lessons and activities about Michigan’s invasive species to understanding land-use issues.

Want to engage youth in land use issues?

Check out the new Junior Citizen Planner program’s new Web site to access:

> 20 fun, hands-on activities in PDF format.

> Easy to follow lesson plans that anyone can use.

> Projects that can be displayed at fairs or community events.

> Opportunities to bring in civic leaders as guest instructors.

> Certificate program options.

Junior Citizen Planner was created to help youth understand the connection between civics, the environment and our community.
