Charlevoix County youth become
Junior Master Gardeners
By Sue Shenk

Six after-school sites participated in the Junior Master Gardener (JMG) program this past spring in Charlevoix County.

Six after-school sites participated in the Junior Master Gardener (JMG) program this past spring in Charlevoix County. JMG is a partnership with Master Gardeners and 4-H Youth Development. Students attended six to eight after-school sessions and were required to do 10 hours of volunteer gardening in their communities or at their homes. Schools participating in the 2003 JMG program were Boyne City, Boyne Falls, Concord Boyne Academy, Concord Petoskey Academy, Charlevoix and East Jordan. These young gardeners are future beautifiers of our communities!

Sue Shenk is the Charlevoix County MSU Extension CYF/4-H youth agent.
