Civic Education Youth Advisory Committee Recommendations
The 2006 CEYAC (Civic Education Youth Advisory Committee—a group of students from around the state involved in improving civic education in Michigan) examined the policy recommendations of the Civic Missions of Schools report and conducted their own research into ideas of citizenship and civic engagement. Over the course of a year, meeting in East Lansing and at the State Capitol, the committee members conducted three meetings, interviewed educators and community members and discussed ways to improve civic education in Michigan. These recommendations were shared with key legislators, the president of the State Board of Education and youth development professionals. Read the 2006 CEYAC Recommendations document:

The Civic Education Youth Advisory Committee was created as a part of the Michigan Coalition on Civic Education which is an outgrowth of the national Campaign for the Civic Mission Schools.
