Summer

Ave. 20 hours per week

Provide assistance to the multiple areas of MSU Extension programming focusing primarily on field crops and 4-H youth. Duties include but are not limited to: overnight and day camp programming, nutrition education, substance abuse event planning, youth fair assistance and promotional items, pest scouting, demonstraton field plot establishment, and crop related data collection. Must be able to multi-task, have self-initiative and have strong people and computer skills. Experience a plus, but not necessary. Some office work required.

Work with volunteers and committees to plan and implement programs related to 4-H Youth Development. May include camping programs, character education, peer helping programs, and 4-H project related activities. Some office work required.

Up to. 20 hours per week

Compile recipes and design Spanish cookbook, use software for nutrient analysis as needed. Work with paraprofesssionals to develop group teaching skills — this might include workshops and /or accompanying paraprofessionals to groups and providing feedback. Work with community agencies to provide nutrition education to their staff and volunteers in a "train the trainer" format.

Excellent opportunity to network in the non-profit community in Grand Rapids.

Prefer graduate student holding a BS or BA degree in health promotion, dietetics, or human nutrition. Will consider an undergraduate senior in dietetics with strong group skills. Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher. Excellent public speaking skills, group teaching skills, organized, self-starter. Need experience in teaching adults, ability to educate auditory, visual and kinesthetic learners.
