Michigan State University Community Vitality Program

Mission
To enhance the capacity of MSU faculty and community leaders to engage in meaningful, cross-disciplinary partnerships to explore ways in which new scientific discoveries and innovative research approaches can help communities improve living standards for current and future residents.

Program Themes
The Community Vitality Program has identified the following themes as both important to Michigan communities and areas of faculty interest.

Environmental Health and Well-being
Economic Development
Poverty, Inequality, and Social Justice
Community and Neighborhood Involvement

Funding
The MSU Community Vitality Program is funded by the Michigan Agricultural Experiment Station and the MSU Office of the Provost.
The 2005 grants competition is complete. Access information on projects funded in the 2005 cycle here. The program also supports occasional seminars.
