WSJM January 25, 2006 – MAES and MSUE Issues Survey

This is Al Gaus the Berrien County Extension Educator for fruit and ornamentals reporting from the MSU Extension office in Berrien County.

Today’s program is not just for farmers, but for all who are listening this morning. I would like to let you know about a current ongoing survey and how Michigan State University (MSU) can use your help. The Michigan Agricultural Experiment Station (MAES) and MSU Extension (MSUE) are working together to ask Michigan residents to help identify the issues and opportunities for research and extension educational programming in the years ahead. The results of this process will shape the direction for relevant, research-based educational programming to address local issues.

How can you get involved? Simply take the short survey on the web. Go to http://www.msue.msu.edu and find the survey link on the opening page. Or, you can stop by our office at 1737 Hillandale road and fill in a paper copy of the survey. This is a short, 45 question survey that will give you an opportunity to prioritize the issues that are of greatest concern to you, your family and your community. We are also asking that you encourage your friends, neighbors, family members and others to also complete the questionnaire. Your participation is voluntary. The answers you provide will be kept confidential. Your name or web address will not be associated with your answers when the data are compiled.

Some of the questions will ask you to rate a variety of topic areas as to their priority for your community. The remaining questions are used to find out some demographic information and your knowledge of the Experiment Station and Extension.

That website again is http://www.msue.msu.edu. Please help us, help you by participating in this survey.

That is all for today, this has been Al Gaus for Michigan State University Extension in Berrien County.
