Major Programs we support include the following
Building Community Capacity: A comprehensive eight-module curriculum aimed at increasing the basic understanding and application of community development principles, practices and tools. Tools illustrated in each module may be applied immediately.
Developing
Community Leadership (DCL):
Created cooperatively by Leadnet and the Community Development Teams, this
program was designed to help communities create a leadership development initiative
that best matches the needs and interests of their communities. The detailed
guidebook explains how to use over 100 learning activities.
County Profiles:
Demographic profiles of each county are available by contacting your local
county extension office.
Community Assessment Teams: An intensive two to four day community program. Involves a small team of experts whose aim is to respond to specific community questions through a comprehensive process.
Board
Development Training:
A half-day workshop designed for people who serve on or interact with various
types of boards. Class may be structured to address specific organizational
issues.
Small
Town Design Initiative:
A community design process to stimulate creative thinking about the physical
environment. The MSU Landscape Architecture Program assists communities to
develop environmental design ideas for local issues and opportunities.
Citizen
Planner Certificate Program:
An 8-week land use training and certificate program for volunteer land use
decision makers.
