Carolina LaMotte water test kits were distributed at the 2008 camp for campers and counselors to use locally – especially around World Water Monitoring Day (September 18) and Earth Day (April 22). Each kit covers eight basic water quality parameters: coliform bacteria, dissolved oxygen, biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), nitrate, pH, phosphate, temperature, and turbidity and includes a “how to” booklet. A water testing info handout was also provided to each camper.

Who Should Attend?

This camp is designed for Michigan teens who will be aged 13 to 15 on July 1 of the camp year*. You do not need to be a 4-H member to attend. You’ll learn about natural resources and management issues, especially those related to the aquatic environment and the Great Lakes. A limited number of camp counselors ages 16 and older will be selected by the camp director and assistant director to serve as camp counselors.
*(Note: If you’ll only be 12 during camp but will enter 8th grade in the fall, you may still apply.)
