4-H Teen Citizenship, Leadership and Service Conference
January 23–24, 2010 Kettunen Center, Tustin, MI
The conference is open to teens aged 14 and up (4-H members and non-members alike), adult 4-H volunteers and youth educators, and adults who work with youth in a variety of educational settings. The 2010 conference is for individuals who are willing to put into action in their communities the skills that they learn and knowledge that they gain. It is designed both for those interested in starting a project in the area of citizenship, leadership and service and for those who would like to incorporate citizenship, leadership and service ideas into their clubs and projects. All sessions will be conducted with teens and adults together.
Workshop Purpose
Participants in the 2010 4-H Teen Citizenship, Leadership and Service Conference will work with 4-H staff to:
- Develop skills, knowledge and commitment in citizenship, leadership and service.
- Learn ways to become leaders in a globally interdependent world.
- Discover what social entrepreneurship is and learn fun ways to use a “plunger.”
- Give youth and adults the tools to start or enhance programming in their community.
- Discover ways to be an effective club member and officer.
- Make friends and have fun learning in a beautiful, natural setting in Northern Michigan.
There are six areas of interest for conference participants to choose from. Each of the topics focuses on a more specific part of citizenship, leadership and service. Conference participants should select a session from each of the four time offerings throughout the weekend. Participants can cross areas of interest but take care that if a session continues in another time period, they must sign up for both or all three. The areas of interest are:
- Communication Skills
- Leadership
- Community Service-Learning
- Citizenship
- Citizenship & Government
- Global Leadership
See the Conference Announcement for more information on these tracks!
